Ms MJ Ramagaga

Deputy Chairperson

Ms Matshego Ramagaga holds an LLM (Commercial law) degree obtained from the University of South Africa. Her formal qualifications and practice include Trial Advocacy Skills training, Forensic Accounting and fraud examination and Advanced International Trade Law.

She is a practising Attorney admitted to the profession in 1990.

She has served as a public prosecutor and later as a Magistrate in the Civil and Criminal Courts and has accepted appointments to serve as an acting Judge of the High Court of South Africa over the period 2003 to 2011.

She has served the profession as a member and a leader in the structures of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces (LSNP), the Law Societies of South Africa (LSSA), the Black Lawyers Association (BLA) and the South African Lawyers Association (SAWLA), the Presidential Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Advisory Council, the Audit committee of the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, and the Legal Aid board of South Africa

Ms Ramagaga has also served as the chairperson of the Gauteng Liquor Board, as well as the adjudicator and member of the appeals panel of the Gauteng Housing Adjudication board.

Presently she is a member of the Competition committee of the LSSA, a Senior Examiner of the Attorneys practice board examinations and a member of the BLA Legal education centre trial advocacy training faculty. She is the Deputy Chairperson of the Companies Tribunal of South Africa.

Ms Ramagaga was appointed by the President as the Deputy Chairperson of the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers on 01 August 2016.
