PRESIDENT ZUMA APPOINTS NEW COMMISSIONERS TO THE INDEPENDENT COMMISSION FOR THE REMUNERATION OF PUBLIC OFFICE BEARERS

President Jacob Zuma has, in terms of section 3(1) read with 5(2) of the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers Act, No. 92 of 1997, appointed new five commissioners to the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers, for a period of five years.

The Commissioners are the following:

  • Hon Justice Cagney John Musi, the Judgeof theFree State Division of the High Court.
  • Dr Loyiso Mzisi Mbabane, the Chairperson of theCommission for Employment Equity.
  • Ms Thandeka Nozipho Mgoduso, Non-Executive Director at the South African Reserve Bank.
  • Mr Andrew Lekgotla Pheto,Special Advisor to the Deputy Chairperson of the Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa.
  • Dr Ronél Nienaber, the Vice President and Global Head of Rewards at the Sasol Group.

The President has also interms of section 3(4) of the Act designatedJustice Musi as Chairperson of the Commission.

The President has thanked former chairperson the Honourable Judge Willie Seriti and all Commissioners who served during the past five years. “They have served the country with distinction. Their hard work and commitment are most appreciated,’’ said the President.

The team collectively brings extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of the judicial, legislative and executive matters, business leadership, corporate governance, executive remuneration skills as well as professional and academic experience on human resources.

The new commissioners will join Advocate Mahlape Sello, who is the Deputy Chairperson, as well as commissioners Advocate Neo Sephoti and Mr Costantinos Economou.

“We wish Judge Musi and the new team well in their new responsibilities and national service,’’ said President Zuma.
